Ok, so I watched Zietgeist 1&2 last night, and I have some impressions. First of all, fuck a bank; that JP Morgan dude is a dick. Also, I think all that stuff sounds legit and good, but there's a HUGE problem with the end of it: they offer no real solution. Like, there's suggestions to solve the giant problem with industry and politics, but how on earth would that work? How do you suggest to someone, "Hey bud, we know you're rich and your life is awesome, but uh... see joe average over there? He can't buy his kid a power wheels. What say you get off your high horse and we try a new way off life?"
He will throw your ass out on the street with GREAT prejudice. And what about religion? I mean, yeah, everyone is debunking religion, "God's a phony, jesus never happened, the church is greedy, blah blah blah" and maybe they're right, but if that's the case, what's the answer? The movie reminds me of an all too familiar scenario; like when you go to a restaurant, and you order THREE tacos, and you drive 10 miles home, and you find that, despite the lack of difficulty in your order, there are only TWO tacos in the bag. So you call in, and the kid who's working says,
"Hello, this is Johnny, thank you for calling taco bell (4th meal!), how can I help you?"
and you say,
"Well, Johnny, I was in your (well it's not his, but what are you going to do?) fine dining establishment tonight, and I ordered 3 tacos but only received 2 tacos."
About this time, you're feeling really great, like: "Yeah! I'll tell this little fucker. Teach him to short me a taco." But Johnny is a pro, and he hits you with this:
"Oh, I apologize. See, Lisa was gathering orders, she must've forgotten to throw in your last taco. I'm extremely sorry for any inconvenience. (and this is where it gets fancy) ..."
Note the ellipsis. That clever little fucker! Now you just feel weird, because you know you've complained, but he's put you in quite the pickle. By creating a silence, he's implied that he is VERY sorry, but is unwilling to correct the problem. I know that sometimes, I almost feel bad because Johnny hasn't wronged me intentionally. Much like the movie (thought I forgot my point?), though, you know the problem, it's now been exposed, but what do you do? Most people are down to just let it go. I say FUCK THAT, "I gots to keep it real." So while the masses would be ok just saying,
"Ok, just wanted to let you know... so that... um... you give out the correct amount of tacos next time."
I would say,
"Well, I accept your apology young man, however, this solves nothing. Here I am, at my apartment with only 2 tacos. A man of my size requires 3 tacos, and I just don't know how I will satiate this hunger of mine. I'd like for you to take care of my next meal, since I've now been shorted a taco."
Which has always ended with,
"Certainly, Sir, I'll let you speak with my manager."
And then we negotiate my prize. The point is, I have a clear cut solution for my problem, where as the movie did not.
Oh, and I know I put COD in the title, but I think I've rambled enough for now, so I'll end it with this: "Fuck yeah, I just smashed you with my noob toob. Take that, ruskie!"
